I like it when there is a reason to take the bus downtown. That happened today. We had our sales division quarterly meeting at the Depot in downtown Minneapolis. Since, there is no point in paying $10 for parking, I ride the bus.
I boarded the bus, headed towards a sideways-facing seat in the back, and said, "How's it going?" to a few of the guys sitting nearby. No one said anything. The man across from me had been reading a small book with fine print. After a while, I thought to myself, "I should ask him if he was reading a bible." Then I thought, "Naw." So, I asked him.
We ended up having the nicest conversation. It was indeed a bible. Right after I asked him, he told me that he sensed I was a Christian right when I sat down. He is a chaplain at the Union Gospel Mission in downtown St. Paul. As part of his work, he leads bible studies for those who stay overnight. People at the Union Gospel Mission have been leading bible studies every night for over 100 years.
I told him I had been involved with doing some street level witnessing in downtown Minneapolis a couple times, and that I never really felt comfortable with doing that. He said that not everyone is cut out for doing that kind of work - and to be encouraged. So, it was a very nice ride.

The company meeting was good. I got there early and saw this wonderful tray of chocolate cake desserts. I sent a text with this photo to Sheri.
She got pretty mad at me (well not really). I felt bad for her, so I ended up buying her some chocolate truffles on the way home! In order to do that I had to stop by Lunds, a nice grocery store right on the other side of the river. After crossing the river, I needed to stop inside the store just so I could thaw out!
| Crossing the river on the Central Ave. bridge out of downtown Mpls. It's getting icey. The picture shows part of St. Anthony Falls, but you really wouldn't know it by the picture. |
