Sheri is Recovering

Sheri had an appt with Dr. Donovan, the surgeon, today. They cut off the dressing and x-rayed her arm. You can see the plate and the screws (all 8 of them)! Dr. Donovan said the x-ray looks good. She goes back next Friday to get the staples removed.

Then Sheri had an appt with Denise Ingram, the occupation therapist. She made her a custom splint. It was interesting to watch. It was warmed up to somewhere around 170 degrees. This made it somewhat waxy and moldable. With that, Denise formed it to Sheri’s arm. The splint is easily removable and will provide stability. Denise also showed Sheri some simple shoulder, finger, wrist, forearm and elbow exercises that she needs to do a few times each day. The elbow joint gets very stiff if it is not used. Sheri will have four appointments with the occupation therapist over the next couple weeks.

In terms of pain relief. The medications are working well. She is feeling fine and has not been nauscious.

Thanks for praying for us. This change of routine has affected Madelyn and James a bit. They are a little more emotional than normal. I didn’t get Madelyn’s shoes into her backpack today. While we were at the doctor’s office, she left a message. So much for gym! I got her shoes to her when we got back. Well, for four days out of five I got things right before getting them off to school!
