The good news is that Sheri is taking much fewer pain meds. She is getting around better now. The biggest thing now is that she needs encouragement that her arm will get better.
The fracture is officially called a olecranon fracture. You can read about what the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons has to say about it here.
A few times a day she does some excercises with her fingers and her arm. It's real difficult for her to just flex her thumb a little bit. She also tries to rotate her forearm and move her arm up and down. This is very difficult for her to do. One advantage to having surgery over letting it heal is that this enables her to do these excercises much sooner. The doctor was saying the elbow can get stiff pretty fast, and the sooner you can get it moving the better.
