What a Game!

It took more than 10 years, but the Gophers finally did it!  The men's team beat Illinois in basketball!  James and I were there to witness it. 

I was not planning on going to the game, but a co-worker gave me a pair of tickets.  She had won them at our company holiday party.  She couldn't go, because her husband was out of town.  She didn't want to go alone.  She needs more friends!  Luckily, I had no problem finding a buddy to go along with.  Problem was deciding who.. Madelyn or James.  I said that whoever didn't go to the game would get to see a movie with me.  Madelyn quickly let James claim the other ticket!

We were up in the upper section back in the corner.  They were bleacher-type seats, and we were really packed in.  I said, "You really have to like people to go to these games!"

The game was somewhat close, but the Gophers kept the upper-hand the whole time.  Whenever Illinois tried to penetrate on offense, there were two or three yellow shirts there forming a wall.  Our defense was just so quick!  Towards the last 5 minutes of the game, we made some great defensive stops which lead to easy transition baskets.  The barn was just going nuts!  We ended up winning 59-36.  Beat them by 23 points!  Now that's a whooping!  I guess it was the first time Illinois was held to under 40 points since 1985 when Purdue did it.
